Project Narrative
The Cleveland Institute of Art Interactive Media Lab is a 14,300 square foot creative and technology driven environment located within the Midtown Collaboration Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Conceived as a hub for experimentation and interdisciplinary collaboration, the lab supports emerging practices in virtual reality, augmented reality, game design, immersive media, and digital storytelling. Purpose built studios, flexible production spaces, and an XR film studio provide students and faculty with access to advanced tools while encouraging hands on learning, collaboration, and creative risk taking. The design emphasizes adaptability and openness, allowing the space to evolve alongside rapidly changing technologies and creative methodologies.
More than an academic facility, the Interactive Media Lab extends CIA’s mission into the broader community by fostering partnerships with industry, educators, and local organizations. The lab serves as a platform for innovation, workforce development, and cultural exchange, positioning creative technology as a catalyst for economic growth and civic engagement. Embedded within the larger MidTown vision, the Interactive Media Lab represents a forward looking model for creative education that connects art, technology, and community through experiential design and shared exploration.
