Project Narrative
Chef Rocco Whalen’s flagship restaurant Fahrenheit relocated after 22 years from Tremont to Downtown Cleveland, celebrating his passion for the city and culinary craft. The 12,850-square-foot design embodies heat, fire, and transformation, weaving a narrative of spark, smoke, smolder, and flame through materiality, texture, and lighting. The ground floor offers diverse dining experiences from the bar and cocktail lounge to oversized booths and an intimate Chef’s Table, highlighting the artistry of the kitchen and hospitality team. A barrel-vaulted wood ceiling frames open views of the kitchen, creating a grand yet welcoming atmosphere that balances intimacy with drama.
A custom stairway of brass, charred wood, Italian porcelain tile, and a wine room leads to the second-floor lounge and roof terrace where guests enjoy fire pits and views of Public Square. The design thoughtfully honors Cleveland’s history, incorporating a restored historic bar and reinterpreted millwork columns and coffered ceilings in the private dining room, blending old-world charm with contemporary elegance. Throughout, the restaurant’s spaces shift in mood and narrative, culminating in a lush, playful environment that symbolizes rebirth and the transformative power of fire, offering guests a multi-sensory dining experience that is as memorable as it is immersive.
